Important summary
JobLocate is an online platform that helps Candidates and Employers find and communicate with one another. JobLocate is not the employer, does not make hiring decisions and cannot guarantee a job, applicant, interview or response. Users remain responsible for checking the accuracy and legitimacy of information shared through the platform.
This summary is provided for convenience. The complete Terms below form the agreement between you and JobLocate.
About these Terms
These Terms of Service (the Terms) govern your access to and use of JobLocate, including our website, accounts, job listings, candidate profiles, application tools, messages, interview tools, notifications and related services (together, the Services).
By accessing the Services, creating an account, posting a vacancy, publishing a candidate profile, applying for a role or communicating through JobLocate, you agree to these Terms. Do not use the Services if you do not agree.
If you use JobLocate for a company, agency or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie information also apply to your use of the Services.
In these Terms, a Candidate is a person seeking work; an Employer is a person or organisation advertising roles or seeking candidates; a Job Ad is any vacancy or work opportunity posted through JobLocate; and User Content means information or material supplied by a user, including profiles, CVs, Job Ads, applications, files and messages.
What JobLocate provides
JobLocate provides technology that allows Candidates and Employers to publish information, search, apply, manage applications and communicate. Unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing, JobLocate is not an employment agency, recruitment consultant, employer, worker, agent or representative of any user.
Employers alone decide their job requirements, screening process, interviews, offers and hiring decisions. Candidates alone decide which roles to consider, what information to provide and whether to accept an interview or offer. JobLocate does not have authority to make those decisions for either party.
Eligibility and accounts
- Candidates must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Anyone creating or controlling an Employer account must be at least 18 and authorised to act for that Employer.
- You must provide accurate, current information and must not create an account using another person's identity or organisation without permission.
- You are responsible for activity carried out through your account and for keeping your login details secure. Tell us promptly through the Contact page if you believe your account has been compromised.
- A user may use Candidate and Employer account modes, but must not use either mode to mislead other users or conceal a conflict of interest.
Terms for Candidates
Candidate accounts are for genuine, personal job-search and career purposes. You are responsible for ensuring that your profile, CV, qualifications, work history, availability, application answers and other information are truthful and reasonably up to date.
You control whether your candidate profile is made visible to Employers where that setting is available. A non-public profile may still be shared with an Employer when you apply for its role, send it to the Employer or otherwise ask us to make it available. Changing visibility later does not withdraw information already shared in a previous application or message.
When you submit an application, you instruct JobLocate to transmit the application and its attachments to the relevant Employer. Review the application carefully before submitting it. Once information reaches an Employer, that Employer is responsible for its own use and retention of the information under applicable law and its privacy practices.
Do not include bank details, passwords, identification numbers, medical information or other highly sensitive information in a public profile, CV or message unless it is genuinely necessary and you understand who will receive it. Independently verify Employers and offers, and report suspicious requests for money, financial information or identity documents.
Terms for Employers
Employers are solely responsible for their accounts, Job Ads, company information, application questions, communications, screening methods, interviews, offers, employment practices and hiring decisions.
Every Employer agrees that it will:
- advertise only genuine and sufficiently described work opportunities which it is authorised to recruit for;
- keep Job Ads accurate and promptly close or update roles that are no longer available;
- comply with employment, equality, minimum wage, working-time, immigration, consumer, advertising and data-protection laws that apply to the role and recruitment process;
- avoid discriminatory wording, unlawful selection criteria and questions unrelated to the role, and provide reasonable adjustments where required;
- use Candidate information only for legitimate recruitment and related record-keeping, protect it appropriately and not sell it, publish it, use it for unrelated marketing or share it without a lawful reason;
- independently check qualifications, identity, references, right to work and suitability rather than treating information on JobLocate as verified;
- ensure that any agency, recruiter, employee or contractor using its account is authorised and complies with these Terms.
JobLocate may reject, pause, edit for formatting, limit or remove a Job Ad where it appears misleading, unlawful, unsafe, discriminatory, expired, duplicated, poor quality or inconsistent with these Terms. We are not required to publish every Job Ad submitted to us.
Applications, messages and interviews
JobLocate may provide application status tools, messaging, interview scheduling and notifications. These tools are intended only for genuine recruitment-related communication. Users must not use them for spam, harassment, unrelated sales, deceptive promotions, debt collection or requests for unnecessary personal or financial information.
Notifications and status labels are provided as a convenience. Delivery, receipt, timing and accuracy are not guaranteed. Candidates and Employers should directly confirm important matters such as interview dates, cancellations, offers and deadlines.
JobLocate is not a participant in interviews or communications between users. A user must not record an interview or call without giving clear notice and obtaining every consent required by law. Employers remain responsible for interview conduct and reasonable adjustments.
User Content
You retain ownership of your User Content. You give JobLocate a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, format, reproduce and display that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support and improve the Services, send it to the users you select, and promote publicly posted Job Ads and public JobLocate pages. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where copies must be retained for legal, security, backup or legitimate record-keeping purposes.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to provide your User Content and that it does not infringe another person's privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property or other rights. Do not upload confidential information belonging to a former employer, client or third party without permission.
JobLocate does not obtain ownership of private CVs or applications and will not use private Candidate documents as public advertising material without permission.
Prohibited use
You must not use JobLocate to:
- post fake jobs, fake profiles, scams, phishing or misleading offers;
- impersonate another person or business, misstate authority or conceal the true source of a Job Ad or message;
- advertise unlawful work, exploitative arrangements, pyramid schemes, roles primarily requiring applicants to pay or recruit others, or work that is materially different from the description;
- discriminate unlawfully, threaten, harass, exploit, abuse or publish hateful, obscene or defamatory content;
- scrape, harvest or download profiles, CVs, contact details or Job Ads at scale, or use bots and automated tools without written permission;
- send bulk or unsolicited messages, market unrelated products, resell Candidate data or build an external candidate database without a lawful basis;
- upload malware, probe security, disrupt the Services, bypass access controls, manipulate metrics or evade an account restriction;
- infringe intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality or any other legal right; or
- use the Services for any unlawful or fraudulent purpose.
Moderation and account action
We may investigate reports and use automated or manual checks to protect users, prevent fraud and enforce these Terms. We may refuse, restrict, hide, remove or preserve User Content and may warn, limit, suspend or close accounts where we reasonably believe there is a breach, security risk, unlawful activity, harm to users or misuse of the Services.
We do not undertake to monitor every Job Ad, profile, application or message and cannot guarantee that every user or item of content has been verified. Where appropriate, users can ask us to review an account or moderation decision through the Contact page.
Paid services
Some Employer features, such as paid listings, featured placement or account plans, may be offered for a fee. The price, service period, taxes and any specific conditions will be shown before purchase and form part of these Terms.
- You authorise the payment method selected at checkout to be charged.
- A service will not renew automatically unless this is clearly disclosed before purchase.
- Payment does not guarantee impressions, applications, interviews, suitable candidates or a hire.
- Except where required by law or expressly stated at purchase, fees for a service already supplied, published or consumed are non-refundable.
- Removal or suspension caused by an Employer's breach of these Terms does not automatically entitle the Employer to a refund.
Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Privacy and candidate data
JobLocate processes personal information as explained in its Privacy Policy. Employers that receive Candidate information are responsible for using it lawfully, securely and transparently, providing any privacy information required by law and retaining it only for as long as needed.
Employers must not request or process health information, equality data, criminal-conviction information or other sensitive information unless they have a valid legal reason and comply with every applicable safeguard. JobLocate's transfer of an application does not make JobLocate responsible for an Employer's later use of the information.
Third-party services
JobLocate relies on third-party providers for functions such as hosting, authentication, data storage and email delivery. Social sign-in and any external website or service are also subject to the relevant provider's terms and privacy practices.
Links to third-party sites are provided for convenience and do not mean that JobLocate controls or endorses them. We are not responsible for a third party's content, availability, security or conduct, except where the law provides otherwise.
JobLocate intellectual property
The JobLocate name, logo, website design, software, databases and content created by JobLocate are owned by or licensed to JobLocate and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we give you a limited, revocable, non-transferable right to use the Services for your own job-search or legitimate recruitment activities.
You must not copy, sell, licence, reverse engineer, frame, reproduce or commercially exploit the Services or JobLocate branding without written permission, except where the law expressly permits it.
Availability and changes to the Services
We aim to provide a reliable service but do not promise uninterrupted, error-free or permanently available access. Maintenance, security work, internet failures, third-party outages or events beyond our reasonable control may affect the Services. Keep your own copies of important CVs, Job Ads, applications and records.
We may add, change, test, restrict or discontinue features where reasonably necessary. Where a change materially affects a paid service already purchased, we will act consistently with the purchase terms and applicable law.
No employment guarantees
JobLocate does not guarantee the identity, authority, financial position, conduct or suitability of any Candidate or Employer; the accuracy or legality of User Content; delivery or consideration of an application; attendance at an interview; or any employment, applicant, response, salary or other outcome.
Users must exercise independent judgment and carry out appropriate checks. Information and career resources on JobLocate are general information, not legal, financial, immigration, employment or professional advice.
Our liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability or statutory right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
If you use JobLocate as a consumer, we are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for business losses or for loss caused by another user where JobLocate is not legally responsible.
If you use JobLocate for business purposes, to the fullest extent permitted by law, JobLocate is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, revenue, business, opportunity, goodwill or anticipated savings, or loss or corruption of data. JobLocate's total aggregate liability arising from the Services will not exceed the greater of £500 and the fees paid by you to JobLocate during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
Employer responsibility for claims
To the extent permitted by law, an Employer will reimburse JobLocate for reasonable losses, liabilities and costs resulting from a third-party claim caused by that Employer's unlawful Job Ad, recruitment or hiring practice, misuse of Candidate information, infringement of rights or material breach of these Terms. JobLocate will take reasonable steps to notify the Employer and allow it to participate in the defence of the claim.
Closing or suspending accounts
You may stop using JobLocate and request account closure through the account settings or Contact page. Closing an account does not automatically withdraw applications or delete information already lawfully shared with another user.
We may suspend or end access immediately where reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, user protection, serious or repeated breach, fraud or harmful conduct. We may also end a feature or the Services after reasonable notice where practical. Payment, intellectual-property, liability, data and other provisions that are intended to continue will survive account closure.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect legal, security, technical or service changes. The latest version and effective date will be published on this page. Where a change is material, we will provide reasonable notice through the Site, account or email where practical. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any non-contractual dispute connected with them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory law that applies to you. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction.
If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in the courts where you live where applicable. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the issue directly.
General terms
- These Terms, together with any purchase terms and policies expressly incorporated into them, form the agreement between you and JobLocate.
- If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
- A delay in enforcing a right does not waive that right.
- You may not transfer your account or rights under these Terms without written permission. JobLocate may transfer its rights and obligations as part of a reorganisation, sale or transfer of the Services, provided your legal rights are not reduced.
- Nothing in these Terms creates a partnership, joint venture, agency or employment relationship between JobLocate and a user.
